Foundations
A Short-Term Large Group Experience
Learn the essentials of following Jesus and build a faith of your own.
Each course lasts three weeks and will be offered in rotation at different times throughout the year.
Current Course
When we enter into a relationship with Jesus, we take on a new identity. But if we don't know what that means, it's hard to experience the benefits of this new reality.
Join us for Foundations: Understanding Your New Identity, where we’ll explore our identity in Christ and how it changes the way we live.
Utilizing both classroom-style teaching and table discussion, we’ll talk through key themes in the New Testament that help us understand:
- How God relates to us before and after our relationship with Jesus
- What it means to be “in Christ” and how that should affect our day-to-day living
- How being an active part of the global church keeps Jesus’s mission moving forward
When and Where
Sunday afternoons for three consecutive weeks
March 8, 15, and 22 • 4:30 p.m.
Decatur City Church • Auditorium Lobby
Additional Courses
Understanding the Story of the Bible
The Bible contains one central story: God working to restore a broken relationship with his creation. This module explores what the Bible is and traces the overarching story through the Old and New Testaments.
How to Establish Spiritual Habits
Throughout the New Testament, we see Jesus practicing certain spiritual activities that enabled him to stay connected to his heavenly Father. This module provides an overview of these spiritual habits that strengthen and deepen our relationship with God.
Understanding Who God Is
Our views of God directly impact how we relate to him. This module will unpack our understanding of the nature and character of God through an examination of the heart of the Father, the life and death of the Son, and the empowering role of the Holy Spirit.
Understanding Your New Identity
When we enter into a relationship with Jesus, we take on a new identity. But if we don’t know what that means, it's hard to experience the benefits of this new reality. This module will explore what our new identity in Christ looks like, how it impacts the way we view ourselves, and how true life change occurs.
How to Read the Bible Well
Anyone can read the Bible, but not everyone reads it well. Reading the Scriptures effectively involves knowing what they say, understanding what they mean, and then applying them to our lives. This module explains a three-step process for reading the Bible well.
How To Follow Jesus
Throughout the gospels, Jesus extends a consistent invitation that continues today: “Follow me.” This module explores what it looks like to follow Jesus in every area of our lives.
