InsideOut Baptism FAQ

Baptism is an outward symbol of an inward reality. In Romans 6:4, the Apostle Paul explains this imagery. Going under the water represents our old self dying and being buried with Jesus who died and was buried for our sin. Coming out of the water represents our new self coming alive with Jesus who rose from the dead.

Baptism doesn’t make these things happen. Faith does. By faith in Jesus, we are forgiven of our sins and born again by the Holy Spirit of God. Baptism is a beautiful and public demonstration of that reality.

We baptize everyone who decides to follow Jesus for two reasons. First, he commanded it. He asked every follower to take this step of obedience, and since then, millions have followed his example.

Second, it’s an incredible opportunity to share your faith. Your friends and family will all get to hear your story of forgiveness and new life in a compelling way. Going public with your faith is one of the most impactful things you’ll ever do.

Yes. It’s way less stressful than trying to tell your story live. Trust us, you’re going to be glad you did. We’ll make you look and sound awesome. Plus, this is such an effective way to tell your story! If you have a concern or are nervous, tell your leader and we’ll talk through it.

That’s OK! You should still get baptized. One doesn’t cancel out the other. Here’s the deal with that: Infant baptism is practiced by some churches and is a beautiful decision by parents on behalf of their child to commit them to Jesus. However, Jesus taught that once someone makes their own decision to follow him, they should be baptized at that time. So, this is a great opportunity for you to agree with and honor the decision your parents made when you were a baby.
