My name is Mark, and I am an engineer. I have been going to DCC for about eight years now. I started serving in Transit around the summer of 2023.
I had been thinking that I wanted to volunteer for about a year, but I had a young son, and I kept thinking that I would wait until he was a bit older. Then I heard Andy Stanley and Steven Lee give sermons on serving. I was inspired by those sermons, and I specifically remember Steven talking about what to do in the waiting seasons of our life. It was that sermon where I really felt like God was speaking to me. I talked with my wife, and we decided together that serving at DCC was the right path for me in my faith journey. We knew that it would need to be a team effort for me to volunteer, and I was very happy to have a wife who supported me doing this.
I wanted to be in Transit because I always remembered middle school being hard, and I wanted to try and help young boys in that stage of life. It has been a wonderful and challenging experience. My faith has grown immensely during my time at Transit. I have met so many great small group leaders, and they have really been wonderful role models for me as I have grown in my faith. The small group sessions with the boys can be hard sometimes, but the connections that are made other times make it all worth it! And then there are the camps and other outings. I bet I get as much out of them as the boys do!
Transit has strengthened my faith and made me a better follower of Jesus. It gives my faith a purpose, and I am glad that I chose to serve.
