More Than Sunday

high schools student wave signs welcoming people to InsideOut

InsideOut meets from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Sundays at Decatur City Church.

The pivotal season of high school goes by fast. While the goal is often to survive these years, InsideOut is here to help students make the most of them. On Sunday afternoons, students meet up with their friends for live music, practical teaching, and small group conversation guided by adult leaders who care about them.

Summer Studies: James

You’ve probably heard the expression, “All talk, no action.” You may have even said it to yourself—or lived it out at some point. It can be a joking expression when talking to a friend about getting a job or asking someone on a date, but no one’s laughing when it’s used to describe a person’s faith in Jesus.

James, the brother of Jesus, had a few thoughts about all talk, no action when it comes to our faith. He even wrote a letter about it, and we can read it in the Bible. It’s called… James! When we read James, it's clear that James isn’t focused on what you say you believe. He wants to know what your faith actually looks like in action.

This summer at InsideOut, we’re going to dive into the book of James and take a look at our faith. As we read James, we’ll discuss what it looks like to have a faith that shows up in how we love people for who they are, not for what they can do for us; a faith that shows up to help others and benefits those around us; a faith that shows up in our conversations and how we use our words. In other words, we want to help put feet to their faith and move it to action.
